The former Founder Principal of Oakridge Bengaluru campus, has always believed in the power of knowledge of the past and teaching Humanities through collaborative learning. This has made him design curriculums for junior grades at the Doon School, where he taught History to students, in both ICSE and IB curriculum. His stint in Doon School lasted for almost 9 years.
He graduated from the Lawrence School, Lovedale and studied History at St. Stephen’s, New Delhi. Later, his interest also took him to St. Andrews, Scotland in 2002, where he did his re-search in 20th century European and American History. Since then, he has remained enthusiastic about developing teaching pedagogy, especially in History and hence, has successfully helped revise two ICSE board syllabus, for grades 10th and 12th. Other than teaching, he is passionate about performing arts like theatre and also dabbles in creative writing. He has a full-fledged novel to his credit.
Hema has been associated with us since 2001 and has held several positions across curricula (PYP, MYP IBDP, CIE & CBSE). She is a versatile person with varied interests like theatre, reading, traveling, organizing exchange programs and events, designing courses, teacher training programs and also facilitating workshops. Her key strengths are her relationship and interpersonal skills, her strong sense of responsibility, open-mindedness and loyalty to her work and her students.
Ms. Shaila joined Oakridge in June 2013 as a Senior Secondary Chemistry Teacher. She comes with a rich experience of working for more than 18 years in reputed schools in Chennai and Ba-hrain. Prior to her teaching career, she was closely associated with I.I.T. Chennai as a project associate researching on high temperature superconductors.In 2014 she was appointed as the Coordinator of the CBSE Senior Secondary Curriculum where she led the team by example.
She has demonstrated strong content and curriculum knowledge and relevant pedagogic tech-niques in teaching, and hence, revolutionized the teaching methods by introducing flipped classrooms. Her strengths were evident when as a Coordinator, she encouraged, inspired and drew the best out of individual teachers and also worked together. Her professional approach helped provide high quality teaching, thus improving the standards of student achievement.She developed good connect with the teachers, parents, students and other stakeholders and with her innovative and creative ideas, she has helped in enhancing the parents’, teachers’ and busi-ness partners’ satisfaction.
Ms. Ritu Agrawal is a passionate educator who started her teaching career in 2001. Her tenure with Oakridge started in 2005 and has more than 10 years of IB PYP experience in diverse disciplines – Home room teaching, Team leader and Segment coordination. She has expertise in Curriculum design, technology integration, assessment and evaluation, professional development for teachers, learning styles and school administration related skill.
She is trained and familiar with the IB pedagogy, has attended several IB Regional Workshops, and visited various Preschool across countries. She believes that learning happens easily when the child is actively involved in the learning process and makes it her goal to make every child’s education a positive, happy experience and to help develop the confidence necessary to become a risk-taking, problem solving, life-long learner.
Parents, staff and children admire her for her passion, commitment to quality, dedication and love for children. She works to ensure that the curriculum, the learning environment, staffing, resources and community involvement in the school are all focused on quality outcomes for students.
Ms. Sweta Verma joined Oakridge International School, Newton Campus in the year 2006. With over 10 years of experience as an IB educator, her experience ranges from being a Hoom Room Teacher, Team Leader, Activity Coordinator to the present position of Headmistress, Primary Segment.She has undergone several IB training in connection with various roles. The most recent ones being the IB regional workshops on Pedagogical Leadership and Understanding Leadership. A passionate learner as well as an educator, Sweta will always put the students’ needs first. Indeed, that passion for learning and values is evident in all she does.Ms. Sweta has organized and conducted in house training programmes for the PYP staff. She has also contributed in organizing all major events and in house events during her tenure as Activity Coordinator. She is known for her leadership, team management and parent communication. And the best part is her ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse people. She feels that the qualities like sincerity, honesty, courage, co-operation, patriotism are important for the children to face the competition of today’s world. It’s one of the mantra to make a child grow socially, physically and intellectually.
