Book Fair 2018 at Oakridge International School, Mohali
Learning is a process of development in the lives of human beings. All the beautiful learning and information lies in the books. It’s that one source where children can acquire so much of this world’s reality and understand the society. Because it is through stories that we define our world and discovers our place in it. Thus, we must inspire our kids to love reading. But we also need to take their comfort zone into consideration.
A book fair is one of the best ways to ignite the feeling of reading in children, and it’s this feeling that drives parents to come in and purchase books for them. This platform opens and accommodates the bookworms to different classes and subjects in their school experience. It’s a feast of books that motivate a student to explore various genres. The presence of a variety of books creates a fascination with books and an interest in reading.
In line with this, the Book Fair 2018 was conducted at OIS Mohali from 16-19 May’2018. The event was opened up by the school principal, Ms. Ramanjit Ghuman.
This three-day event fascinated a lot of fervent juvenile readers. A lot of genres like fiction, non-fiction, books on cartoon characters, novels, biographies, autobiographies, arts & crafts, etc., were exhibited.
The excitement of the students was immeasurable. Children also prepared a wish-list of the books they coveted for during the pre-visit. Along with their parents, the children visited the fair and chose their favorite ones. A lucky draw was also conducted which allured more attention by the visitors. The lucky bookworm got one book. The sales at the fair were an all-time high which symbolized that we are making strides in fulfilling our endeavor. On the whole, it was a marvelous venture.
