“Splash” – a sit and draw competition for differently abled children was held at Oakridge, one of the top International Schools in Hyderabad on Saturday –18th August 2018. This initiative was taken to encourage the artistic ability and give creative freedom for especially abled children who do not have scope to participate in competitions of this scale. Students from 7 special Schools in Hyderabad were contacted through emails and phone calls. 150 children participated in the competition accompanied by 30 teachers and helpers.
The children were picked up from their respective schools and dropped back after the event. As soon as kids settled down after having snacks and milk, the painting competition commenced. 50 student volunteers helped us through the event. Children were provided with drawing books and coloring materials. They were asked to draw whatever they would like to draw. All the participants enthusiastically participated in the event.
It was an overwhelming experience for the children, employees and Oakridge student volunteers to see Chota Bheem at the event. The kids definitely excited and happy to dance and click a picture with Bheem as well.
Since it was a holiday for the school authorities we invited a few volunteers from the corporates to judge the paintings. While the judges were assessing the drawings, each of the participating schools performed solo dances as well as danced happily with Chota Bheem.
Judges for the show selected 10 best works (2 first prizes, 2-second prizes, 2 third prizes and 4 consolation prizes) from the Junior and Senior groupings. All the participants received participation certificates and goodie bags. The event was a great success and was appreciated by the volunteers and participating schools teachers.
