4th International Yoga Day Celebration at Oakridge International School, Newton Campus
Learning ‘Yoga’ at an early age can have lasting and immense benefits on the overall health and well-being of the student. It helps the body to relax, soothes mind, and make the body flexible as well as improves concentration power. Stuck between a variety of workload and pressures, students can gain these benefits from yoga. This will help them prepare for their exams, score excellent marks, work better and improve their performance in every field.
We are well aware of the endless emotional and physical disorders that teenage faces due to unhealthy lifestyle choices. However, the practice of Yoga can help them overcome these problems and lead a healthy lifestyle. We can always find the positive impact of yoga on the life of students. Meditation and yoga bring positive vibes among the students and if they do it regularly it will help in bringing positive outcomes which is advantageous for the scholars. To spread this awareness, we at Oakridge, encourage students to perform yoga every day.
The International Yoga Day celebration was initiated by the Prime Minister of India, Shri. Narendra Modi in the year 2014. At Oakridge, we celebrated the 4th International Yoga Day with a great enthusiasm by the active participation of the students. Ms. Mani and Ms. Seema Shetty, the Yoga Facilitators conducted the session. The compering of the session was done by Aahana Jain of 5J. Ananya Tirumala of 6F recited a prayer and Vidyavini of 7L gave a speech on the importance of yoga and the significance of the International Yoga Day.
The students of Grade 6 displayed breathtaking and awesome formations. The event ended with a small note on the importance of yoga for the students in daily life by Mr. Paramesh Murali, Vice Principal, International Curriculum (MYP-DP). This event was an attempt to enhance interest in the discipline that provides physical, spiritual and mental benefits.
