Oakridge Bangalore is all set to celebrate ‘National Science Day’ on February 28, 2018, in the form of Oak Science Fest. “National Science Day” is celebrated in India on 28th February each year to mark the discovery of the Raman Effect by Indian Physicist Sir Chandrasekhara Venkata Raman. The Raman Effect was about the scattering of light when passing through different materials. This became his great success and major discovery which has been marked in the Indian history. The day is well celebrated every year by students, teachers, scientists and researchers in each and every school, colleges, universities, educational institutions including scientific, academic, medical, technical and research institutions across the country.
To celebrate this day, Oakridge students are coming up with a grand celebration – Oak Science Fest in collaboration with Society for Space Education Research and Development (SSERD) and Experiment Science Labs (ESL). The theme for this year is “Science and Technology for Sustainable Future”. This fest would majorly provide them a variety of learning experiences, including Guest Lectures by one of the most eminent women from the field of science – Dr. Sujata Virdhe, Dr. Virdhe holds M.Sc, Ph.D. in Applied Physics and had been a Former Scientist with ISRO. The students are far more excited about her being on the campus and share her experience with our Oakridgers.
The whole day is planned to be a ‘fun n learn’ experience with Launching of Rockets, Demos on Science Experiments, Model Making, Ramp Walk and many more surprises.
