Oakridge Bangalore witnessed an exhibition of MYP Personal Projects Year 5 on 7th December 2018

Passion Project…

If you are passionate about it, pursue it, no matter what anyone else thinks.  That’s how dreams are achieved and it is known that when passion and skill work together, the end result is often a masterpiece.

This is what Oakridge, India’s top International School witnessed on the morning of Dec 7th, 2018 in its Bangalore campus!

It was the day of Exhibition of MYP Personal Project.

MYP Personal Project which each student of MYP 5 has to complete before appearing for e-assessment.

The personal project encourages students to practice and strengthen their approaches to learning (ATL) skills, to consolidate prior and subject-specific learning, and to develop an area of personal interest. The personal project provides an excellent opportunity for students to produce a truly personal and often creative product/outcome and to demonstrate consolidation of their learning in the MYP.

The project offers many opportunities for differentiation of learning and expression according to students’ individual needs. The personal nature of the project is important; the project should revolve around a challenge that motivates and interests the individual student. Each student develops a personal project independently. Personal Projects can also be referred to as Passion projects as students take up any topic which has always intrigued them or they are passionate about.

MYP projects are student-centered and age-appropriate, and they enable students to engage in practical explorations through a cycle of inquiry, action, and reflection. MYP projects help students to develop the attributes of the IB learner profile; provide students with an essential opportunity to demonstrate ATL skills developed through the MYP, and foster the development of independent, lifelong learners.

The aims of the MYP projects are to encourage and enable students to:

  • participate in a sustained, self-directed inquiry within a global context
  • generate creative new insights and develop deeper understandings through an in-depth investigation
  • demonstrate the skills, attitudes, and knowledge required to complete a project over an extended period of time
  • communicate effectively in a variety of situations
  • demonstrate responsible action through, or as a result of, learning
  • appreciate the process of learning and take pride in their accomplishments IB schools hold an exhibition to display the MYP Personal Projects to parents, different schools as a culmination to the Process.

Oakridge, one of the top Schools in Bangalore held an exhibition of MYP Personal Projects Year 5 on Dec 7th, 2018 in the morning. The program started by following our tradition of lighting the lamp.
