The second edition of OAKiq 2017 Grand Finale, India’s biggest multi-city quiz competition held on 25 November 2017 at Hyderabad, organized by Oakridge International School with an objective to test the students’ knowledge and motivate them to develop the skills by exposing them to challenges. With an overwhelming response, around 1160 students from across India participated in 580 teams in the preliminary rounds held from 28 October to 12 November at 4 different cities in Mohali, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore, and Hyderabad. After intense questioning rounds with a total of 900 questions in city rounds, top 23 teams were selected which included 46 students to compete for face to face in the 100 questions Grand Finale which took place in Hyderabad.
OAKiq is an initiative by Oakridge in association with Nexus Consulting that gives a national platform where the bright ones converge together and attempt to test their own knowledge to score the most points to be selected for the finals to compete other finalists. The competition was organized in various categories including Sub-Junior, Junior, and Senior under two levels; preliminary rounds and grand finale respectively. The Grand Finale had competition on topics like current affairs, sports, arts, geography, science, history and many more.
Dr. Naveen Jayakumar, who has been hosting the Landmark Open Quiz since 1994 and is an author of several quiz books was the quizmaster at the OAKiq 2017. The quiz consisted of four rounds with a rapid-fire round and buzzer round that made it more exciting for both the young minds and the audience. The quizmaster even included the audience also to answer some questions, making it more engaging for the crowd of more than 100 people sitting there and cheering for the contestants. All the winners received a grand prize of Rs. 25,000 from the dignitaries.
