Oakridge - Welcome to Oakridge International School- International Schools-
At OIS an inquiry based integrated approach forms the core concept of curriculum transaction.
The learning process is relevant and purposeful as the students are encouraged to explore, gather, process, refine and present information.
The curriculum integrates content areas like Science, Social Studies, and Technology with process areas like Language, Art, Mathematics, Drama, and Music.
Inquiry approaches allows the learners to take control of their learning. Prior knowledge is built upon to make and test predictions, to gather and organize information and to synthesize findings.
These conditions encourage the development of abilities like exploration, reflection, risk-taking and making an informed choice.
Differentiation @ OIS
OIS teachers tailor their instruction and adjust the curriculum to students' needs rather than expecting students to modify themselves for the curriculum.
The first and most important step in differentiated instruction is determining the students’ level of knowledge.
In accordance innovative methods are used to retain their interest with an aim to take them to a higher level.
The goal of differentiated instruction is to develop challenging and engaging tasks for each learner (from low-end learner to high-end learner).
Instructional activities are flexible and based and evaluated on content, process and product.
The content of lessons may be differentiated based on the student’s receptivity levels.
Keeping in view the diverse, international student population, a wide range of familiarity with concepts in a lesson are looked into.
Teachers with expertise, handle the content by designing activities for different groups of students.

Clear boundaries and expectations are established and agreed by groups as a whole.
Teachers aid students to make judgements about their own learning and set learning targets for themselves.
