Believe in India
“Believe in India”- A programme designed to enrich the lives of OIS students and of those from the partner schools to help spread the use of best teaching practices.
This year, Oakridge embarked on a project of sharing and service that focused on two neighbouring schools. The Khajaguda Government School, in its vicinity and IZM-Sajjadiyya Boys School in the old city of Hyderabad.
Why is Oakridge involved in such a programme?
To quote Capt. Rohit Sen Bajaj, Principal, OIS “I need to direct, influence and guide my faculty. Many a times they sacrifice their personal time to be part of this MAD (Make a Difference) world. Believe in India is one such project whereby the OIS faculty and students have made an impact on many lives. This is so much in sync with the OIS and IB Mission.”
- Oakridge endeavours to sensitize its students to their surroundings and the people around them.
- To enable them to appreciate the underprivileged and respect them as human beings.
- BII has been initiated to develop the Learner's Profile among the students to become caring and compassionate.
Joy of Giving - a project undertaken by OIS to help inculcate the joys of sharing with others
Design for Change - a project under Joy of giving was taken up to encourage students and generate ideas with an aim to bring about some relevant changes in society.
HCHW - Hyderabad Council for Human Welfare is a foundation which works for the betterment of the underprivileged children to bring about an appreciable difference to their lives. As part of the OIS community service program, students from different grades visit the Council’s centre to interact and spend quality time with the children.
SPOORTHI - Spreading the Light of Knowledge. Spoorthi is an Oakridge Initiative, to aid the children of OIS sub staff to help them develop their English communication skills, ICT and Maths.
Many faculty members volunteered to help in this selfless cause and extended their cooperation by relentlessly working to meet the desired expectations.
An IBDP student Harshita remarked “It was exciting as I taught instead of being taught. It reminded us of how fortunate we all are and inspired us to put in our best efforts in teaching them whatever little we could”.
OIS believes in service with programs like Spoorthy, for its students to emulate.
Green Rangers - Conserving our planet is the one hope for future that can unite us. Going green could be the global movement of the 21st century, much like the movements that defined and transformed the twentieth, for the better.
The Green Rangers is a special army of Oakridge International School students out on a mission to try and reach out to as many people as possible, in local communities to spread the awareness and importance of 'Going Green'
Who are Green Rangers?
Green Rangers are a special band of Oakridgers to enlighten one and all about the growing menace of air pollution caused by vehicles, and its repercussions.

Why Green Rangers? - OIS Green Rangers are the catalysts of environmental change with one unified message ‘Let’s fight air pollution’.
- Green Rangers is a special army of OIS children out on a mission.
- A mission to do something significant and bring down air pollution levels to make our surroundings cleaner and liveable.
- To encourage people to act wise, and do everything in their means to help make a clean environment.
- Green Rangers are all around at traffic junctions, malls, outside schools and colleges and in cinema theatres.
For whom?
- The Green Rangers are here to caution anyone and everyone with a two-wheeler or a four-wheeler with them. This initiative is for all who haven’t got their vehicle checked for the mandatory ‘Pollution under Control in the last six months.
- This initiative is for anyone wishing to leave behind a world that’s fit enough to be lived in.
- For those, who believe that they are responsible to give back to the earth what they have received from it - a good life.
